Somewhere in France by Jennifer Robson | Review Time!

"They will be swift with swiftness of the tigress. None will break ranks, though nations trek from progress.”

I would like to start this whole situation off by stating the I have always said that I never purchase Adult fiction...but lately I seem to be reading a lot of it. This one I picked up at a local bookshop, mostly because I felt awkward leaving without purchasing anything. I'm a sucker for a good love story...and this one caught my eye and I snatched it up!
For those of you looking to avoid spoilers, my rating is:

I adored this novel. It was a surprisingly light-hearted read, that didn't get heavy or too intense until the last few chapters. Lilly and Robbie were both wonderful characters, whom I respected throughout the entire novel. Lilly was the typical spoiled rich girl...except she wasn't. She had backbone, and believed in doing what was right. When her parents did something wrong, she left the house and made a life for herself. She got a job and worked for her own apartment, later applying to the army as an ambulance driver. She was realistic in her naivety, considering she's been in a mansion her entire life, but she learned fast and proved herself to be a true hero.
Robbie, on the other hand, was respectable and an underdog who pulled through. He was a truly good person, who motivated Lilly and encouraged her to make her own choices. He made me briefly angry when he tried to insist she return to England, but he redeemed himself quickly.
The only reason I didn't give this book a full rating is because I felt like it dragged on a bit. It look at least half of the novel before Lilly was in France, and her relationship with Robbie progressed very slowly for that portion of the novel. It was also incredibly predictable. Don't read this book expecting surprises, read it expecting a quick and easy historical-fiction read.
I want to leave it at this...but please comment if you would like to discuss or anything!!!
